We can and we should. Unfortunately I don't trust somalis back home to maintain the greenery. There needs to be enough job opportunities for poor folks so that they don't go around chopping trees down on the orders of AS or the braindead president of Jubaland.
Furthermore I think they should introduce a controlled amount of wild herbivores as well as predators to manage their numbers. Animals aid in developing a greener environment since they'll carry new seeds for miles

Introducing new animals/plants can also be detrimental to the local environment. Rats and Pigs have destroyed many island ecosystems, sometimes being the primary cause of extinction.
Who said anything about rats or pigs? I was thinking antelope. We'd never be able to convince somalis to introduce pests, but a small amount of zebra won't hurt. Many of these herbivores also migrate to new pastures, meaning they don't over graze one area.

Ngl it is a fair point to bring up. That's why I stated we'd also need a controlled amount of predators to manage their numbers. We could perhaps have herbivores that take longer to mature like elephants. You would have to reintroduce native wild life and not play Escobar introducing Hippos to south America.
Funny thing is that humans always think they can control nature, when in reality it is far more intelligent and enduring than them. Essentially a natural system of the creator. The mistakes of humans like introducing pests will always balance out in the long run, but not without causing devastation to the selfish creature known as mankind.
