By the 1800s it was a collection of tribal lands and sultanates usually centered on the coast, some small like the Warsangalis and some powerful like the Geledi who won victories against the Abyssinians and ruled large swathes of the riverine south at one point. I think this is incorrect bro. Oromos were in jubbaland and it was taken recently(late 19th-early 20th century)

Oromos weren't in central/North or even thr shabeele I believe. In fact, they only really came into the horn in the 16th century with the Oromo expansion.

I also think that we didn't come from South Ethiopia, we'd be mixed like the Oromos if we did. We likely originated around Hararge(oldest clans like Karanle are there)

We only recently became one country, and it ended it up a huge civil war. Since Somalis are nomadic, is it just in our DNA to split apart and be within our tribes? I wonder what would happen if each Somali tribe became its own country (Dir, Darood, Isaaq, Xawiye etc), after a few hundred or thousands of years, would we be different ethnicities?

Somalis never had one empire or country but whenever there was an external threat they would come together and fight against it. Plus the "Somali" identity had to have come from somewhere

The last time when all somalis were ruled and represented by one government is thousands of years ago. Once upon a time we shared a kingdom with other cushetic peoples. We did rule the kingdom though.
When that kingdom disappeared economic powerful city states emerged.

We have a tradition of reclaiming coastal cities as nomadic grazing lands when the cities get abandoned which happens when there is no trade on the coast. Which makes it kinda impossible of keeping record of all those lost cities.
