Waaq

Waaq is a very weird religion. The Oromos that practise it gut a cows stomach open and look inside it. They believe the cow swallowed their scripture. I hope our ancestors didn't do this too. :stressed:

It more likely the chiefs adopted islam and their people followed . And waaq probably wasn't the only religion that our ancestors followed they can't be that uncreative :wtf:
Well somalis are homogeneous in language and culture so it's likely they had one religion.
There is evidence that some somalis in Somaliland may have been Christians in pre islamic times though

Waaq was born from an acacia tree. People who follow Waaqism believe they are the offspring of Waaq.

Imagine the creator of all beings coming from a tree.

The creator from a creation and that creation must've had a creator too thus creating an infinite regress.

Further invalidating this religion.
Moses spoke to god through the burning tree.

During the Isra and Miraj, a tree was the border where god's throne was beyond it...Mohamed and Jibril couldn't even pass it, they could only speak to god beyond the tree.

Theologically from an Islamic standpoint who is to say this Waaq religion wasn't brought by one of the 200,000+ prophets we believe existed and was corrupted over time like we believe happened in other religions.

Could be very true ,
That's why there were so many prophets ,because over time the message got lost

I wish Somalis were Waaqist up untill now and the Arab religion didn't reach our shores,at least we didn't had to deal with extermists like A.S who plundered our nation. :(

going on the formation of somali tribes in 12 and 13th centuries and the first mosque built in late 7th then islam probably introduced in 9th or 10th. They accepted islam quickly

So you’re working under the assumption that clans are 1) factual and verifiable, 2) that they follow a linear pattern in their genesis and growth , 3) that they reflect the spread of Islam in Somalia? And even if you are right and we can confidently say yes to all of that, you think 7-10th century is a quick period of time?

Muslim and Somali names are intermixed in any lineage. And some clans use more Somali names than Arabic names. According to your logic my clan became Muslim in the 1800 😂😂😂 oh and all this AFTER you’ve already said clan info isn’t factual because it’s not. So again what are we doing here.

You trying to make this make sense and seem coherent.
