I think they are trying to slander the community to force it to conform to their version of "normal". FGM is a thing but even the name is derogatory and misleading. You only call it "mutilation" if you want to cast it in a negative light. We should make a counter documentary outlining in detail the good side of "FGM" as they call it. Removal of excess skin results in a more aesthetic appearance to the vagina. In addition, removing part or all of the clitoris helps to inhibit ty behavior on the woman's part. Yes it is painful but so is circumcision of boys. If you want to make the case against female circumcision, might a well be against male circumcision and call it MGM. I would disagree with you but at least you'd be principled. We need to stand up for ourselves. f*ck VICE. Always trying to cast us in a negative light.

"FGM" is already a derogatory word. Let them do their thing but change it to female circumcision. Settled. Boys get circumcised so why not girls? Thats where you should take this documentary. Change the conversation to that instead of pleading with them and telling them "we are not barbarians".We have enough negative press

Sxb some people are just born wrong. There are men who are born into women's bodies and vice versa. Imagine being stuck with a penis while you are otherwise a woman. But I get your point that they are trying to slander the community. Instead of running away from the issue, you should stand up for yourself and explain that it's female circumcision. Afterall it's pretty much like male circumcision.

July, August and September are something of a “cutting season” for many girls around the world, when the break from school means they have time to undergo, and recover from, FGM. Though there is little formally collected data, experts say that FGM is commonly practiced during the school vacation period in parts of Guinea, Nigeria and Somalia.
In some cases, girls even travel from abroad to undergo the procedure.

Oh you mean the gays. I agree with that. But you shouldn't be mad at gays because they are voluntarily eliminating themselves from the gene pool by not procreating. It's an evolutionary mechanism to rid the gene pool of degeneracy and control exploding population.

How does one even find an FGM specialist?
How much does the surgery costs?
What medication do they offer the child?
What happens if there’s a mistake in the operation? What do you tell the hospital?
Is it considered child abuse if your caught?
There needs to be an independent Somali FGM taskforce that kicks down doors and takes names.

90% of diaspora halimos are cut during the summer in Kenya , Ethiopia and Somalia.
Vice should contact me. It is very rampant in the diaspora. 8/10 of every halimo is cut when they leave for the summer vacations.
I have seen halimos have difficulty giving birth to the point the vagina has to be sliced with scissors to widen it for the passage of the offspring.
It is mostly enforced by the mothers. They will even pay the daughter wads of cash to get the procedure done.
