How can you disbelieve in Allah when you were lifeless and He brought you to life; then He will cause you to die, then He will bring you [back] to life, and then to Him you will be returned.

124. And (remember) when the Lord of Ibrahim tried him with (certain) Commands, which he fulfilled. He (Allah) said (to him), “Verily, I am going to make you a leader (Prophet) of mankind.” (Ibrahim) said, “And of my offspring (to make leaders).” (Allah) said, “My Covenant (Prophethood, etc.) includes not Dhalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers).” (Surah Al-Baqarah)

Surah Al-Ankaboot, Verse 2:
أَحَسِبَ النَّاسُ أَن يُتْرَكُوا أَن يَقُولُوا آمَنَّا وَهُمْ لَا يُفْتَنُونَ

Do men think that they will be left alone on saying, We believe, and not be tried?

I love this verse because it demonstrates that there's no faith without action. We can all *say* we believe in Allah SWT and The Last Day and His messengers, signs etc. But do we really believe? Will we still believe when we lose a job, experience the illness/death of a loved one or go through heartbreak? Jannah is the ultimate reward for the good that we do in this world and because it's such a great reward, we're going to have to face trials that show the true measure of our iman. Belief is not just lip service.
