There is no need to have mass amount of people with no planning, we should be focused on rebuilding on the basics first like eduction, infrastructure, medical care etc. You're trying to compare small nation like Somalia to places like China and India when in reality we should strive to become as rich and developed as Norway or even Japan.

Japan and Norway were in the same situation in the 19th century at the begin of their industrialization process, their population grew rapidly and only later they transitioned to a post industrial society. You can't just jump from being Somalia to Norway's situation, like China, Bangladesh and and many other Asian countries you have to first industrialize.

Yes, Norway and Japan were once in the same situation and had a big baby boom as child morality sunk, Somalia and other african countries are only going through the natural process of industrialization as did many other Asian and western countries.

Private sponsorship is a racket. They are not going to be real refugees. They will fork out $25K to the group that sponsors them which will be split five ways like in our infamously corrupt Group of 5 scheme. Business will be booming in certain communities. What a stupid decision. Just let the Latinos get their backs wet and look the other way when it come to the Eritreans. Why are they being so harsh with these people?
