I reckon Arms embargo is coming to an end soon. There should be strong measures made by both present and future governments to make sure heavy weaponary does not land in civilians hands.

This is great news. This arms embargo being removed is well overdue. This will allow the government to be able to be properly armed against any threat, be it foreign or domestic.

The FGS should have the monopoly on violence and the only way to do that is to have best arms in your territory. Arms embargo has extended the civil war and anarchy with decades.

The arms embargo is one of the biggest factors holding somalia back. They gave Iraq f-16s and even allowed the puppet government of Afghanistan an airforce but blockade basically everything from somalia. How can you fight a terrorist militia with no qualitative advantage?

I have been thinking about this, there is a sinister reason behind the Somali embargo.

The west allows failed governments like Afghanistan and Iraq which are no different from Somalia, to get heavy weapons for their military, but Somalia is not allowed. That absurd.

I remember the US government giving the Iraqi army hundreds of Humvees to fight against ISIS but won't even give us one armored vehicle to fight Alshabab.
