Yesterday it was a few paid nobodies that were close to the British parliament then soon it became spoken about in the parliament building and now we have American congressmen legitimately vouching for the succession of somaliland.

You may not like it but you can understand why people who are pro Somaliland succeeding feel like they are gaining momentum.

The thing yall dont understand is that no one has the appetite to recognize secessionist entities without the consent of the internationally recognized government. There are hundreds of clans and tribes throughout Africa that would rise up against the official government immediately and if this precedent is set, it will open a pandoras box that will be disastrous for the continent and beyond. Also there is a real threat that recongition could result in a civil war between secesassionists and uninionists in the north that would serve the interests of no one. Its not worth it. But paid shills will continue to do their job of promoting this fantasy as long as the cheques keep coming in.

'For now', and don't think its because Somalia has this overwhelming power it causes nations to bend to its will, its simply because of the AU stance on this subject, its not based off tribe either SL isn't just Issaq's , when the day comes when it is recognised I hope this serves as a lesson in the end.

I dont think the US will recognise Somaliland , for that to happen the US have to fully give up on Somalia , they have invested to much really to let Somalia go., all those efforts decades of policy would be for nothing. Unless Somaliland has what the US wants not sure if the US really wants a base since they are also in DJibouti despite not having exclusevity there i fail to see what the US could really gain i looked it from every angle.

can i ask what it gains from somalia, like you said SL has to offer something (but even then i hate that frame of mind) the more important trade routes in somalia are in the north realistically if there isnt control of it youre in stagnation forever. I'm not speaking from the perspective of a hater of course Somalia can offer a lot but not when its a mess and after 30 years whats the point its insanity to do the same thing again and again expecting something different

Is so out of place to see all these Americans fixated in Somaliland. They definitely cooking up a big plan, I just hope Israel isn't involved or us accepting gazans.

Nothing will happen in regards to Somaliland. It is nothing more than leverage that the US can use against the federal government at any time so why give up that valuable leverage for little benefit in a very important location in the global trade route. If we try to align with a non-western state like China or do something that the US doesn't like, they will threaten to tear our country apart and the President comes running back in line. Y'all have offered yourselves up to be used as a tool against our people by western imperialists and that's all you'll be treated as. If the US really want the Berbera port, they can easily pressure the federal government to get a deal done at anytime and you won't be able to do anything about it. This as a consequence limits our own foreign policy interests that benefit us and this problem will remain as long as this secessionist problem exists. Y'all need to wakeup and smell the roses already because there is no recognition coming, ever. If you couldn't get it during Somalia's worst time, what makes you think you'll get it now or in the future. We should settle our issues once and for all and remove this leverage that western powers can use to exploit us.

Im not gonna lie the strategic importance of berber has honestly been exaggerated way too much. Its not even exactly clear what the main value is ? Is it for china ? The houthis ? Control of the red sea ?

On top of that its pretty clear the u.s isnt even serious in fighting china. Look at how they're leaving china alone and blaming india for buying Russian oil. To the point that the trump spokesperson Navarro called the war with Ukraine modi's war.

This absolutely no sense geopoltics isn’t measured on how good the mother country is doing South Sudan was taken from Sudan when Sudan was it its best in years they US pressured Sudan to give South Sudan a peace deal with an referendum the USA can get a deal from Mogadishu to use berbers on paper but what you don’t get it is the separatist in hargeisa control berbera how could the USA use berbera if the locals the people who actually control the place aren’t happy . Or what do u think will happen will Amisom escort American troops . The thing is I made another thread about this the politicans in Mogadishu try to inside ignore Somaliland and then they wake up one day when western countries want to deal with Somaliland . The best way to solve the sl issue is to come to an agreement either go your separate way or re united bases on a new constitution with good compromise . Iskama laaalaadi kartan

The deep state support the territorial integrity of Somalia and have no intention of changing their position regardless of any circumstances.
