Separately, in 2022 79% of Somali girls studying in Lambeth achieved grades 9-4 in their English and Maths GCSE; they outperformed the national and Lambeth female average of 67% and 68% respectively and outperformed the other groups in the research (white british, polish, caribbean, portugese) besides africans for that year although again I’m unsure if this category includes Somalis or not.

In 2023, 69% of Somali boys studying in Lambeth achieved grades 9-4 in their English and Maths GCSE; they outperformed the national male average and Lambeth male average of 62% and 60% respectively and outperformed all the other groups in the research (africans, portugese, white british, caribbeans) for that year with the exception of poles.

The census shows that nearly a quarter of Somalis in the United Kingdom are currently at university. 21.7% of Somalis in England and Wales are students right now (in comparison to 7.3% of the England and Wales population so 3x the national average). For reference, 48% of Somalis in the UK are under 21 and the majority of Somalis in the UK were born in England or Wales.

I would say most UK Somalis over 18 are probably in university right now and studying, those who aren’t are probably doing apprenticeships or retaking their exams (gap years), so they are economically inactive because they’re studying. UK Somalis are doing quite well and the next census should be much more interesting and positive.

Y'all honestly got too many self haters within y'all's community. On every major somali platform there's a bunch of coons from the UK constantly calling Somali dudes broke and uneducated.

I don’t care about what they have to say, I posted this thread to disprove the lies they post. Like I said at GCSE level, Somali students in Lambeth have outperformed white British students in 3 out of 6 years (2016, 2018 and 2022). In 2023, Somali non-FSM students outperformed Pakistani non-FSM students, black non-FSM students, mixed white-black caribbean non-FSM students, white British non-FSM students and white other non-FSM students. In 2023, Somali FSM students outperformed the national FSM average (42%) as well as Pakistani FSM students, black caribbean FSM students, black FSM students, mixed white-asian FSM students, mixed white-black african FSM students, mixed white-black caribbean FSM students, mixed other FSM students, white british FSM students, white irish FSM students and white other FSM students. Somali students in Lambeth consistently outperform Portuguese students throughout school (KS1 to GCSE level). It’s important to highlight things like this and disprove the lies people post
