The Turks picked the beach-front location on purpose, for the same reason the Westerners built their base in Halane. Turkey should have only been allowed to rent a place for their embassy and instead the fools gave them free land and now, Turkey has land in Mogadishu.

400 hectare of Turkish land is in Mogadishu and they didn't even pay for it (thanks for the scoop @CanoGeel).

It is twice the size of the American base in Djibouti, but guess what? Foreign countries actually pay rent to Djibouti. Somalia is exploited for FREE.

I agree. There’s a difference between healthy relationships which both countries benefit from such as Egypt and Somalia. We get our students educated in top african universities and in return Egypt has a allly in the region. But with turkey, even though they are building our army, they are basically taking over the key parts of our economy which isn’t a fair relationship

The projects the Chinese do are worth the cost, it should more than pay back the debt by itself. These countries often fall into debt trap through misspending, not by being tricked by the Chinese. Somalia of course is no exception to this.

No China will indebt Somalia just like Kenya by giving a loan and then if it cannot be paid back they will take over Somalia’s port or take a share in the economy getting closer to China as an African country is not a smart move
