You seem to be obsessed with the turkish trained officers. You do know that most officers from the pre civil war era are more experienced than what we have today and have been targets of the icu for good reason.
The same way anti tank mines and weapons were being sold en masse before the ethiopian invasion, the remnants of the old military were getting assassinated by the icu.
These "old farts" as you put it don't deal with battle tactics but the overall strategies.
