Yeah there really isn't a ton of somalis here-- relative to other groups of people. Outside of certain areas that @Chaseyourdreamzz mentioned, I don't come across somalis or east Africans in general.

Because government housing waitlists are over a decade long in Toronto now. They have to rent in places Somalis never used to live in because of that reason.

It actually has plummeted from 2010-12 levels, which was the height. Lots of reer Toronto have moved to other parts of GTA, Ottawa, Alberta and small towns now. I heard the Somali population in Toronto was 80,000 in 2012. There's no way there is even 30,000 now. Somali millennials also have a very high death rate: I know like 20 Somalis around my age who died. Now add the Somalis who died of old age (which is like 65 in the Somali community). So many Somalis in their 50s and 60s have died.

There were 65,000 Somalis in Canada in 1996. We should easily be well over 150,000 now. Where did the population go? Somalis in Canada, especially Toronto, are vanishing.

If you’re intending to move to Vancouver/BC, you might as well settle across the border in Seattle. Better opportunities, higher wages and I’ve heard that it’s cheaper to live there, relatively speaking, compared to Vancouver, not sure tho. And the rising housing cost is probably similar, but Seattle is still more preferable than Vancouver.

I’m good with ajnabi so it wouldn’t be an issue but the junkie epidemic there is no joke downtown Vancouver makes Toronto look like child play
