Lol, there are some racist Arabs out there--what else? Most of them aren't xasad however and do consider us to be Arab brothers in blood and diin. The dude who probably tweeted that probably thinks we would be better off claiming black over Arab! As if! I've had way more madoows being racist towards for not being "black" enough than I've had Arabs being racist towards me in general. Being Arab is a lot like being Hispanic. There are black Hispanics and white Hispanics however at the end of the day, they share the same culture so they're all Hispanics.

Are you a Sudanese?

If not, Why don't you be satisfied with Somali only? We only share the deen with Arabs. Were you colonized by the Arabs when you're saying that you're an Afro-Arab? Did you lose your dhaqan/culture to them Arabs?


You still got your native language which is somali unlike the Sudanese, so why not be just Somali only?

By extenstion, we're technically Arab. Also, many of our founding clan fathers were Arab and by the traditional Somali system everything is patriarchal so we're all Arab. Also, I'm a huge fan of Pan-Islamism and many Arab countries are Muslim. I love African Muslim countries, too, so I am proud because of them to be African. In the end, tbh, I don't care too much about labels except the one of Islam.

And many people in my family claim Arab and speak Arabic fluently, so it's something I grew up with personally.
