I genuinely cannot understand what's happening over there more and more I'm hearing about complaints from people living there and the crazy gang violence. We have problems over here in the UK but I dont hear that much about gang violence compared to MN only benefits and housing. Is it actually that bad over there?

These boys and men are not properly raised, not hold accountable and this is what is happening. Many of them are also having identity crises (unlike somali women and girls) and want to portray an image when they are not. The rap music and scène has such a negative influence on the somali communities across the west. These Somali rappers are also many times involved in crime, but then again this is usually across rappers regardless of colour and ethnicity.


Minnesota is one of the richest, safest (outside of the gang crime in Minneapolis and post Floyd riots) and has some of the best education and social services in the whole country. There is no reason why they can't do better.

The last 3 years during 4th July Somali youth caused a havoc with fireworks and shooting/using it at other people like those that walked across the streets, at cars and the police etc. I'm hoping that this year they would not do it but frankly i don't have high hopes. It does seem that the community in the last decade have just only gotten worse.

These xayawaans treating Minneapolis like its Brooklyn. Mn is the best state for Somalis yet throw that away just like they do in Scandinavian countries. These countries and states need to make benefits more tougher and even deport these criminals along with their parents. This should teach them not to behave like animals in a guests home.

Last week during a high school graduation ceremony in St cloud (place in Minnesota) there was a huge fight between mostly somali girls and boys vs a couple of cadaans and it went viral with 2k+ comments and millions of views posted on FB by a notorious right wing/somali hating Minnesota news site called Alphanews. As you can already imagine the comments were almost all racist and hateful but it is so embarrassing to see this shit.

Frankly most of the videos of high school fights in Minnesota that have been posted past 3 years involve Somali youth. Many people have stories on how in high school they were jumped by somalis. These second generation are really not doing enough.

Between these two shootings at high school graduation ceremonies, a viral brawl between somalis vs a couple of cadans during a high school graduation ceremony in St cloud last week, the shooting at a mall yesterday where a 15-year old boy died and not to mention being the faces of fraud, government abuse (not talking about only the feeding our future trial but also the various people that have arrested in the last 3 years for medicaid, daycare, autism center fraud that costed hundreds of millions in total) and more crime coming from young somali boys and men, it's really over for MN Somalis.

Anti somali sentiment has become mainstream and common in Minnesota under people from all races, ages, colors etc. It's not only the cadaans, other immigrant and those that are children of immigrants are distancing themselves from the Somali community because they do not want to be part of this, especially other Africans.

There is going to be more second and third order effects from all of this that most people fail to consider. People will naturally become more nervous about having Somali neighbors, there will be reduced responses from job applications and a general decrease in job opportunities, and policing will become more discriminatory.

At the end of the day we are a hyper-visible minority as it is, and we're only like 1 or 2% of the state's population. No matter how good we are as individuals, no matter how accomplished we become in terms of educational attainment or economic success, we will always be viewed as a collective. And these ret@rded crashouts will only further drag the collective reputation of our community through the mud. We gotta do something asap before this gets further out of hand.

I very much agree. I don't follow the news and have deleted all social media but sometimes i still have the urge to see and read what is happening and sadly stuff like this is what is bringing lots of views and comments which makes me curious but is definitely not helping me nor us as a whole.

I don't care for these racist cadaans and other minorities that love to dunk on Somalis acting like as if their communities are full of Angels and without any fault. Somalis are just only 1% of the population and are not the perpetrators by large.

Many of the mothers from these youth (across the west) have been sending these trouble makers back to Africa but i have yet to meet one that truly benefitted from this. I have many African friends of different nationalities whose parents also do this and they too have not seen a lot of advantage. Most of these boys return just angrier and sometimes even more violent than before.

It really start with better and more involved parenting especially the fathers and holding the boys and men to high standards. Somali girls and women as a whole are hold to high standards and do not cause problems (some of the somali girls are also involved in foolish stuff but luckily they are a minority). But it is men (regardless of ethnicity) that perpetruate the most crime.

I see the ceremonies of the university of Minnesota and there are so many somali faces. Not to mention that the healthcare sector in Minnesota is filled with Somalis and somalis form 11% of the workers in the animal processing sector but degenerates like these are just proving the point to racists that Somalis are a lost cause and that it was a mistake to have brought them to the state.

Shit like this happens because too many of us are located in the same places. Since the absolute majority of somali Americans live in Minnesota, in the same couple cities and towns, most of the hate directed to them are from Mn people. In Ohio tens of thousands somalis live there too but in general there has not been lots of problems and somalis could easily blend in there with the other black and African population..

In MN it's really the African American community that is the largest black group (but also the one that is over represented in crimes, poverty and receive lots of hatred from the cadans too), somalis and ethiopians, liberians and nigerians. These three African groups are mostly professionals and live spread out and frankly are insular and minding their business and really associate with only their own people.

I truly do think that most of us in the West should live in places with a small but very close Somali community. Too many of us in the same place and we already see what it leads to across europe and the US.
