This is what I see on the forum 24/7 I have never met a African people more obsessed with race, color, features etc than my own people it is embarrassing they go to other people’s forums like Kenyans, Ethiopians talking shit about how they aren’t Bantu etc etc yet we are the ones who have been at war for the past 30 years, and live in a shithole of a country but none of that matters to Somalis peace doesn’t matter, development doesn’t matter.

As if other Africans aren't obessed with race either sxb. You haven't been in their circles long enough to understand they talk about race a lot too.
And besides, Somalis suffer far less colorism than other African communities. What you confuse as race discussion is just Somalis being proud of their unique appearance.

I find these topics to be the least interesting. Perhaps it is because I identify myself as a Somali beyond colour, race, and physical features. However, other Africans tend to discuss these topics more frequently, as they have fragile national pride.
This is because many of their tribes and ethnicities are part of a large country that has been around for less than 100 years, or some tribes have little to no power.
The second reason is due to pan-Africanism, which promotes skin colour and race as a way to deal with borders left behind by Europeans.
Those living in the West are already dealing with racism, and skin colour and race help them unite since they all come from different parts of Africa.

Somalis have not been proud of themselves for years hence the bleaching epidemic (it impacts both male and female). Maybe our forefathers were different but for the past decades have been quite the opposite. If Somalis were soo proud you wont be seeing @Macawisley @Niin obsessing over Arab and Cadaan women and being repulsed of black skin (which they have lool). They should marry out and SHUT UP.
Of course there are those among us who have self esteem issues or bleach themselves to follow trends but its not a common thing

Sxb this is a diaspora issue. Somalis who are cultured and back home solely call themselves Somali & identify with their lineage/state. They don't care about jareeer, deghace, timo jileec ect. To the extent diaspora folk do. I've seen my own eyes when I lived home for 6 months.

They are like black Christians who, when they want to talk about black Muslims by saying that Arab women do not marry them to their daughters as a way to embarrass them, they do not understand respect for people’s customs or they simply do not like the mixing of races.
First, if you identify as black, this is something that concerns you, so don't generalize to the rest of us. Secondly, there is what is called “genealogy” and “tribal inheritance.” I don't think you know this, but we (Somalis) care about our lineage, there is no such thing as "mixing", whether it is Bantu or white.
