There is no clear funding path for 2025 or beyond.

With just three months left this year, only 24.6 million US dollars has been pledged against 196 million dollars required.

Out of these funds 20 million dollars has come from the African Union.

Meanwhile, troop contributing countries have remained deployed without any allowances for 15 months -- essentially subsidizing the mission.

This is untenable.

So let me get this right, Amisom soldiers have been in Somalia for 15 months without pay, living in fear of AS attacks and pissing in bottles in bases without pay?

Also 20m of the 24.6m came from African union. So the EU and America have totally cut off the funds they used to provide? Will they really allow the SFG to collapse and for AS to run supreme in the south and spread further in the Horn of Africa? I doubt it man.

No doubt. But will the cash cow stop, is Trump and the EU serious? I very much doubt it because reaching such a decision means the end of the SFG and AS capturing Xamar within days.

I never understood the AU troop presence after 2014. They weren't doing any large scale operations. They international community could easily have trained 12k troops to replace them with the money spent.

15 months no pay, damn. No wonder EU/US used these guys as cannon fodder. Nevertheless, these guys will stay until removed by FGS or left to hang by the west. The ball lies in FGS hands or EU/US. Both parties are dragging their feet, fortunately USA already made it clear they are not giving a single penny, EU is being a bítch by prolonging this debacle.
