PL isn't part of this The US is now going to seriously equip these forces with heavy weapons like they did with Afghan and Iraqi forces
looks like the move is to house AFRICOM but eventually plan is to be SNA bases
The US wants to have a permanent presence in Somalia , since the Chinese encroachment in Africa threatens the US interests
i rather have these bases then falling into china debt traps and owning our infrastructure

We need to up our geopolitical game, use the CCP and Russian card as leverage to get Western support. Somalia should be 'the guy' in HOA region.
Yeah its a lil annoying to see ties deepening though; the somali economy is already conducted in us dollars. Imo were in a stage where the world is going from unipolar to multipolar, and to see somalia fgs deepening ties with the sinking ship (i dont think itll sink this generation; the ship is the us) lacks foresight.
At best its being done to "legitimize" somalia and keeping it out of un trusteeship status (not sure if this is real or propaganda) but this many power grabs in a row in such an unstable environment, what makes hsm so confident?
