The problem is that they believe they have a right to the continent and do not want to accept the existence of different people as well. We are an ancient mix of Middle Eastern + Nilotic, to the point that no one can claim us, so it is better to say that we are only Somali

It's a very common misconception which is uttered to no end. I'm sure Somali armchair geneticists will make that clarification in the comments. I think the point stands. That the obsession is real. Skimming the comments I saw someone coin the term "Ancient Multigenerationally Mixed" (AMA). One remarked that we often marry each other to keep the features alive. Otherwise they'll disappear. Something to that effect.

I mean they aren't far off, it's an old mixture of middle eastern related and ancestral east african related ancestries.

Horners are a bit different from north africans, horners are seen as black-adjacent and half of their ancestry is SSA. While most of the ancestry of north africans is just "eurasian", north africans don't see horners as that much different from other madows in reality
