The Truth about the battle of Wayna Daga and Wofla

Since the Futuh al Habesha only covers the earlier of Ahmed Gurey's life most sources on Ethiopian Adal war take the Portuguese account of Castanhosa as gospel but I have found another source which makes more sense than Castonhosa's exaggerations. It is the Hadhrami chronicle 'Tarikh al Shihr'.

The Hadhrami chronicles say the reason Ahmed dismissed the turks after Wofla is because they tried extorting him and he didnt want to deal with them. It also says there were only 500 turks who came from Zabid not the ridiculous number of 2,900 like Castanhosa says and that even of those 500 half of them left even before Wofla after they disputed with the Imam. Meaning the Portuguese at the battle of Wofla outnumbered the Turks. It also says all the turks left after Wofla and Ahmed sent them away unlike the Portuguese account which says 200 stayed for Wayna Daga. The reason Ahmed sent them away was two fold, firstly, because he didn't want to deal with their greed as they tried to extort 10,000 uqiyah of gold (210 kg of gold/22 million dollars worth) Ahmed eventually gave them 2,000 Uqiyah (42 kg of gold, 5 million dollars worth), and secondly, because the Portuguese were totally routed at Wofla that Imam Ahmed let his guard down and thought he didn't any more reinforcements. Knowing this we can probably deduce that Wayna Daga was an Ambush and Ahmed wasn't prepared for it nor did he Marshall all his troops.

Interestingly though it gives him the Nisbah Al-Mākhidī which I have never seen before.
