The spread of the jouke is happening

A store in Nairobi is selling Joukes and it got 100k views on TikTok but the half the comment are just saying its Arab clothes (Dadkan carabtu qulubta ka wastay Mxe ahayen war dharkan anaka leh 😂) and the other half claiming its unique one specific tribe ("Dhar MJ. MJ not eazy pro🦁🇸🇱🔥"). God I hate fobs but on the other hand these joke were low quality anyway.

They are just ignorant, Somalis are reactive people and speak whatever is in their mind, hopefully with time we can educate them and spread awareness about the rich history of our people.

The brand should’ve done an informative video including photos of sultans of the past who wore it, and then showcased theirs. And the commentsection should’ve been locked.

This is good but we need to get it bigger, on a governmental level. Judges back home should wear blue jouke instead of this weird somali flag coat I saw then they were doing the trial of the guy who burned his wife.

Maybe even have the president the black or White Joukes on certain special events or even state visits. Imagine HSM wearing this while giving a speech at the UN lol. Have this be the first thing that pops upon google when people search about somali traditional attire. However all our leaders have been 5'6 mallets with no aura so they'd prob ruin it. the embroidery is really bad especially the circles

That’s cool. I believe he’s the son of the sultaan of Garre. Hopefully, this becomes a trend among them (elites) so it can eventually trickle down to the average Somali.
He married Ali jamale’s daughter today lol. Jouke is indeed coming back in full force

1. It has to be complimented with headwear
2. Ceremonial weapons
3. Only worn on specific occasions

Actually think this outfit is too restrictive to modification. It was worn by the Ulama and judges.

Thinking more of a Caftan design complimented by trousers and boots, with a belt for ceremonial weapons is the way.

they did eventually show pictures and the reactions better, no one said anything about Arab clothes. but there was still qabils claiming it

Notice the golden leaves embroidery in the robe above

A quite literal description of this in Futuh :

"..and he gave him two robes, covered with gold leaves weighing 150 ounces, and similarly of silver, with leaves of 150 ounces of pure silver. Each robe was identical. They said, ‘This is a token gift for you since you acted graciously towards us and bestowed peace"

and Imam Ahmed and Emir's handing these robes to different leaders and nobles.

It was probably kept alive in Harar that's my guess, that's seems more than likely the case and it experienced resurgence seeing how regionally spread it's usage became and how it became something the dignatary wore.

The Qadi of Hargeisa wearing it and the local elders:

It’s probably similar to how coffee was overtaken by khat in the Harar region, as he explained in one of his threads and this happened in the 1980-1990s. So it probably fell out wear due to changes in the demand and economic dynamics.

Its very funny how somalis refuse to larp anything. You have people arguing with us this is not oart od our culture to rhe point people have to write threads like this marshalling all rhe evidence. And then you have other cultures wearing "traditional clothing" that actually never existed historically.
