Somaliland president will leave for the UAE on working visit today.

The leader is due to hold talks with UAE officials and is due to take three days.

Members of council of ministers will be part of the president’s entourage.

The UAE and Somaliland officials will discuss ways to foster the ties.

Dubai Ports World is investing Berbera Port and the underway construction of UAE military facility in Bebera will top on the agenda.

Berbera Corridor, a road linking Ethiopia to Somaliland has been recently launched whereby UAE based firm has been awarded the contract to build it.

This is the second time president Bihi is visiting the UAE since his election.

Quite a interesting quote
“Recently, Somaliland has been enjoying diplomatic overtures from multiple countries including Germany, the United Kingdom, and Ethiopia.”

This is a developing story and we will update as we know more.

If he has to visit the UAE then that means something's wrong.

UAE is probably rethinking the risk of getting in the way of Somali domestic politics.

Whatever investment they have in Somaliland would just get nationalized as punishment once Somalia consolidated power over all its states.

Still got to give it to President Bihi and his unfounded enthusiasm. Hopefully they'll throw him a bone on this trip to cover it's costs...

And when's that going to happen?

Why would Berbera want a road built to link them with Ethiopia?

o_O

Because ethopia is a country with more than 100 million people but don't have a port i.e. they need to import and export from neighbouring contry ports. Secondly the trade overall between Ethopia and Sl needs a route although SL exports shit too Ethopia and ethopia export tons of Qaad to SL.

This road is part of the controversial "Berbera Port Deal". You can read about it i won't comment any further cause people will judge based on dp :)
