1. There is going to be a meeting between the government and maamul presidents soon to discuss how to hold an election. farmajo can’t meet madobe Since he considers him and his election illegal so he must recognize him first. Who meets someone they don’t even recognize? That would look bad on him.

2. the second and more important reason is farmajo will at least get 1 year extension. Why? Because he gave madobe 2 years interim recognition and a year has already come and gone meaning only a year remains. Farmajo is obviously counting on minimum one year extension which will then give him more time to deal with madobe. Also if madobe still acts tough then people will see him as the spoiler and farmajo support will skyrocket.

Farmaajo has in the end lost the battle against Madoobe. He wasted precious time antagonizing someone who could have been an ally of his alongside Laftagareen. Ahmed Madoobe will now pressure clan leaders into electing MPs that are mucarad. Farmaajo has not even barred Madoobe from running again, so what is even the point of giving Madoobe a 1 year extension? He has the revenues of Kismayo port, no one in Jubaland can buy votes like he can.

Farmaajo’s shortsightedness has cost him his reelection.
