The need for Somali shaikhs to start writing books

Somali shaikhs really need to start writing books to pass on their knowledge. It's insane even in 2024, our society still mostly oral based and doesn't write much.

I may sound like a murtad for saying this but I am sick and tired of seeing Somali youths who are becoming more religious quote some dude from Pakistan because he wrote a book, or some midevil shaikhs from Arabia to convey their religious messages.

Damit I wanna quote shaikh mustafa or shaikh umal but these homies ain't writing books! If I can quote shaikh Jabuti or shaikh dirir, I am not quoting shaikh ibn taymiyah or whoever.

Let's not call them dumb. They are our scholars, without them, you'd have to rely on some arab shaikh.
I am sick of seeing every Somali household paying shaikh Sudais quran recitation, the same fella who said "leave it to politicians to address the palestinian issue" like God won't ask him tomorrow why he didn't condemn it.

Anyways, we need a completely societal/cultural revamp.

Qor all the oral stuff.
Do some archeology.
And we'll be able to have a large collection of books creating us a uniform historical narrative of the Somali peninsula for at least 2,600 back.

Alot of books were kept in Mogadishu museum but they got sacked in the civil war.

Walahi at this point if I was in charge I'd aerial bomb any tuulo found hiding a single Arsenal player.
I'd hang the entire political class.
Revamp and put 20% of gdp into Army.

A full legal code written up and enforces.
Millitarise the country will police up and down.
Concentration camps for any dissidents.
Secret police to infiltrate any millita or policial organisation that threatens the Somali state.
Tax tf out of everyone and rebuild the country.
Connect the country through railway and send food from productive areas to the rest of the nation.
Ban all foreign aid and build up Somalia industry.
Invest in better farming and explode population.
Use government to limit foreign media.

Somali sheikhs use to write a lot of Somali poetry as well. Some Salafi scholars rarely write books and they quote Saudi sheikhs like they are the holders of all knowledge.

It would be good if Salafi sheikhs returned to writing Somali poetry and have a more indecent outlook and move away from always presenting the opinions of 3 or four Saudi sheikhs.

Somalis have the resources to develop their own Mufti’s and undertake their own research.


How can Sayid Muhmad Abdullah Hassan have more poetry and Arabic letters than Somali sheikhs who have PHDs?

at least up to the time of the Roman Empire. lol if we want we can add a little something to every empire or city, historical figure or battle just to give us bragging rights. I wonder what archeological discoveries are hiding in baadiyo as a play ground for reer miyi children. I once had a dream that 5 generations of a family lived near an ancient proto Somali city and didn’t bother to question the ruins they were neighbors with.
