The lack of an army is the number 1 political problem in Somalia

LOL

You seem very sure about Siad Barre's intentions.
People were trying to kill sharmaarke for a long time. In 1968, Sharmarke narrowly escaped an assassination attempt. A grenade exploded near the car that was transporting him back from the airport, but failed to kill him. U have to understand the civilian govt was like what Somaliland is now stable but massively corrupt. :hillarybiz:

" 1991 when Siad left the country the army completely collapsed" is completely false. The PM Carte Qalib disbanded the army. 80k soldiers became clan militias and warlords the next day.
The way the SNA is currently being rebuilt, gov increasing their salary and paying them on time is very promising. A constitution is a worthless paper if the gov can not enforce it. If the SNA keep up the momentum it’s just a waiting game now.

With hats happening in Tigray i doubt the western rulers aka the IC in Somalia or anyone for that matter will encourage or entertain the idea of clans states in Somalia gaining access to heavy equipments or having an actual army. Not like they can offer it anyway. πŸ’€
Your clueless on militias in Somalia right now.

The following introduction is an excerpt from the case study, "The problem with militias in Somalia: Almost everyone wants them despite their dangers," produced by Vanda Felbab-Brown for the United Nations University report, "Hybrid conflict, hybrid peace: How militias and paramilitary groups shape post-conflict transitions," of which Adam Day was the project lead. The full case study can be found here. https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.brookings.edu/research/the-problem-with-militias-in-somalia-almost-everyone-wants-them-despite-their-dangers/?amp. Many armed militias in the south that the SNA is massively underprepared to incorporate.

Whose clan didn't have enough power to ever get to power without stealing it?
Who had incentive and plans to install a 21 year communist dictatorship?
Who killed everyone in his path for 21 years?

Don't rule him out.

Perhaps the soviets had something to do with it if that what ur hinting at. As the western backed government in the horn was against soviet interests. As for his clan the govt wasn’t really tribalist at that time but I could be wrong. :cosbyhmm:

What's more tribalist than murdering civilians based on tribe? His entire political party was based on destroying Majerteen who had considerable power due to having a kingdom and a Sultanate + founding SYL.

You are giving the benefit of the doubt to a deranged person.

I meant the govt before barre wasn’t based on tribalism many people of different tribes held major positions. A marehan could get into power without a coup. After 1976 it went haywire but the first 7 years of his dictatorship was good for the country. The clan based targeting only happened after he felt had lost public support.

His power came through illegal means, nothing was good about it, not even one second.
When the President was assasinated, the PM was supposed to take over, not this Askari with his illegal coup d'etat.

He increased literacy and many other things the civilian govt was corrupt my own mother gave him flowers.

I refuse to believe an "MJ" man would defend the monster that caused the ethnic cleansing campaign of MJs in Nugaal and Mudug.
My family lived in Bakool to be fair so they never experienced that. Like I said after 1976 he wasn’t mentally stable . My great grandparents only saw puntland and garacad.

Hawadle had more power than Marehan. The only positions you had were as Askari and your lead Askari- Siad Barre, had to illegally occupy a seat for 21 years to keep power.

:kanyehmm: Interesting, you seem to know so much about his alleged mental health but you don't know how he harmed MJs.

These newbies think we're dumb.

i live in the west and had no immediate family in puntland when that happened so i didn't know any of that even happened. He was targeting whole clans for opposition groups so obviously his mental health was declining.
