Why is there such a high number of atheist on this site, considering they where raised in a Islamic Somali family, how can their numbers be so high among us?
Has it something to do with the backlash on muslims these recent years ? Or personal issues like, Family issues ? Feelings of shame or inadequence?
It seems a lot of them also are very disrespectful to islam and live to bash islam.
I find this worrying and a potential threat to the Somali community and culture.

That's utter BS, Somalis received no indoctrination, we have a 5000 year tradition of monotheism from Allah, Waaq all the way to Egyptian God Eebow, a term only the Somali's use until this day! The all powerful one supreme God that even the Sumerians worshipped.

Simply put I left because of a combination of incompatibility, questionable ethics, and the fact that I didn't want to live a lie anymore. I can still appreciate Islam as it helped shaped me today and helped me when I was suffering hard times. I am, of course, a product of my environment in some ways, but my decision was not influenced by anyone but myself.

It disgusts me when I see Muslims like @Inquisitive_ with his vile post above who claim to be Muslim. You fail to realize it's because of people like you why people hate Islam and you dare question why. That post above was definitely not sanctioned by Islam.
