complete rediculous history the coutnry and the region was controlled by the geledi the zanzibarians purchased a small bit of land from the geledi

it was osman ahmed that sold the city and the area to italy later on
https://books.google.co.uk/books?id=Nt5yAAAAMAAJ&redir_esc=y
from IM Lewis himself welll know east african historian hes well credited as well

unlike some unknown Italian blog

@Grant
osman ahmed sold much of his posessions of after his death in 1910 to italy

that was when the italians gained much of the country

Sultan Barghash of Zanzibar had a garrison in Mogadishu in 1870 and in all the port cities shortly thereafter. He put Kismayu on the map with a garrison in 1872.

How does one sell property after his death and the dissolution of the sultanate? The Italians began administering the Geledi territories directly in 1908. Osman's death in 1910 merely ended the dynasty.

The map is a fake, part of one of the falsified Somali Wiki pages. The Banaadir resistance ended in 1908 and Italy took full control as far as the Jubba. By 1915, the map date, the Italians were already well established.

Yusuf and Ahmad of Geledi had tried to seize the Bimaal port at Munghia in order to have a maritime presence. The Bimaal were competitors, not rebels. All of the coastal merchants, and probably the Omanis, were on the Bimaal side, as they didn't want the Geledi diverting all the Shabelli trade to their own port.

The Begedi, Hintire, Jiddu and some of the Reewin clans abandoned Yusuf as he quarelled with the Bimaal after the Bardheere war. More left after Yusuf was killed in the first Bimaal war of 1848. The remaining allied clans abandoned Osman after Ahmad was killed and the Geledi withdrew after the second Bimaal war of 1878. By 1885 Osman was barely in control of just the Geledi tribal lands.

It was the Abgaal Imam, who would loose most of his share of the customs duties, who objected to the Garessa in 1870. Ahmad had been eager to demonstrate his remaining influence and threatened to send all the grain and other trade goods passing through Geledi territory to ports other than Mogadishu if the Imam resisted. It was Ahmad's opinion that having the Omanis in full control was in everybody's best interest, so the Garessa was built. Ahmad did give an assist, but it wasn't a matter of Geledi permission.

After 1878 the Geledi had no significant power left.

Masaman is an amateur historian and doesn't give much to detail.

The Swahili ''sphere of influence'' was perhaps on the far South Somali coast, but not inland.

Also, his thumbnail arrows show where the Benadiri's ancestors came from.

I know quite a few Swahili people(10+) and they definitely don’t look like Bantus to me. They look mixed with Arab. A lot of them I mistook for Sudani.

That dumb coloured map James Dahl made it has no historical basis.

:farmajoyaab:old man is this how you spend you're retirement trolling somalis ?

To say Benadir was soley ruled by Zanzibar Sultanate is intellectually dishonest

You don't even have sources to back up your claim.

This authentic source clearly says Zanzibar were forced to accept the Geledi authority in the Benadir coast and when Zanzibar decided to built a fort in Mogadishu. They had to gain permission from Sultan Ahmed Yusuf meaning they didn't have complete control over the Benadir coast because the Geledi had some authority since they ruled Barawa and only the Bimaal of Merca resisted their hegemony. All the Rahanweyn clans you mentioned were not only under the Geledi Sultanate but paid tribute to the Geledi rulers. This source explains it all.

I have provided my evidence so stop making things up.

Also, the Italians confirmed that the Benadir coast was locally governed by Geledi Sultanate, Hiraab Imamate and Bimaal Sultanate (Merka State) which were Somali kingdoms. The Zanzibar Sultanate claimed the coast but didn't rule it. Why do you think the agreement between Italian and Zanzibar were null and void? Why do you think the Benadir coast resisted the Italians even after Zanzibar claimed to transfer the authority to the Italians? The Italians called them liars for a reason.

This is the real Zanzibar Sultanate map. It spans from Lamu to the Zanzibar islands, never reached the Somali coast. Keep your revisionism to yourself.
