Provinces with a governor is basically a central system that tries to ignore qabiil in a society or drag unconsenting qabiils into a maamul. 8, 5 or 3 provinces makes no difference. Also it doesnt address the overarching issue which is how do we address the fact that most somalis prefer to share a state with their clan?
Did u forget Somali tribalism divides farther and farther down? Most provinces are concentrated with sub clans of larger clan and more than often these sub clans/provinces are neglected by the federal state because the maamul is majority one or 2 sub clan. U emphasis how province based governance can be a solution and bring them equality and u have the majority on board

Yet these people have a much easier time making longer term peace or figuring out to share power without issues. Secondly do you have an example where this is a problem? northeasterners share bosaso peacefully , waqooyi people share hargeisa, south central people share xamar/beletweyne, south west - baydhabo, deep south - kismayo.
From those cities the only clear problem i can see is kismayo, and even here you can figure out how to apportion funds for each city in Jubbaland. The system aint perfect but it sure beats the alternative.

U do know that multiple regions pushed into states can be easily exploited due to few political elites having control over them...every state maamul wants to act like a king and the federal government cant due shit about exploiting by these so called presidents... its literally a system that will hold us back from out potential yet u found a way to justify it. We can never have effective institutions that surve somalis all across somalia due to this decentralization. How can u possibly envision a stronger somalia under the current government system of somalia? There is a reason somalia is #1 in corruption...

Also this way of governance somalis have in 2024 isnt something exclusive to us...its the same way of governance that majority of the world was practicing few 100 years and probably still practiced in those shutout island communities (I'm talking about clan confederation)...its up to those who are educated to lead the somali society out of this and into something that will lead us into the modern age and catch up with the world. Its mind-boggling that u people want the status quo to remain just because its partially working and give up on something more grand for the somali society

Are you saying federal states is bound to cause infighting between governors/president? if so how does america/germany not just function but also thrive?
The reason why so much infighting exists is because the country hasnt even finalised a constitution yet. And the federal states are in everyway except for by law independent nation states and that's purely due to the fact that the gov in xamar cannot get its shit together.

There's no reason for it hold anything back as we've seen federal countries make it work across the world.
The problem is your blaming all of somalia's ills on federalism when the causes lie else where.

I thought u understood the true form of the current somalia government but u don't...federalism is just a front for clan confederacy hence why u cant compare to federalism that works in the west...federalism in a tribal society will evolve into clan confederacy and due to this we cant develop strong national institutions and governance. If u dont understand this much then there no point in this argument

When you say "confederacy" your referring to a different form of government than a federation. When you say a front it implies there are sinister designs to turn into a confederation. But it doesnt have to be this way. And you do that by with all parties coming to an agreement on the powers vested to the government. Again it only looks like a confederation now because the gov is weak and neither able to enforce/impose anything on a state nor does it draw respect.
