It is not even a truly conservative/rightwing position as it burdens the young and potentially lowers fertility rates as they may postpone family life.

The real rightwing position on this should be no or very low tuition fees but extremely high standards to get into university and placing a cap on how many people can go to university.

I support the German model, promote vocational schools and real skills not libtard fantasy degrees that cost you an arm and leg only to end up working as a Barista in Starbucks. University is a bonafide business now and the more plebs that sign up the greater the income thus flooding the job market with useless degrees.

A bachelor’s degree is equivalent to a high school degree now in North America

IMO, they should just raise standards ridiculous high that only about ~20% of the population is even able to get in, not ~50% like it is the case now. Also, abolish lots of fake pseudo-universities and keep the ones that do research and provide scientific breakthroughs.

But student loan is business and someone has to pay for the money these people took out. So it’s either tax payers or the businesses who invested in this business. You can’t just write off it and say it’s just gone. Right wingers more than anything support lower taxes in America and would never agree to raise taxes to pay for students education
