This movement is South Korean women's last resort to protest the way society treats them as second class citizens. Despite the fact that korean women work just as much as men, the patriarchal society in South Korea expects women to solely take responsibility for the domestic chores, parenting, and caring for the elderly in-laws with little or no help.
Korean society also pressures women to adhere to insane beauty standards. Women feel forced to always look physically appealing. The societal pressure to look beautiful pushed women to purchase new clothes every few months, spend a lot of money on make-up, and maintain their physical appearance to look appealing to men.
Before feminism spread in Korea, Korean men coined and used many terms to disparage Korean women. Korean women, who could no longer endure the misogyny of Korean men, retaliated by coining and using terms to humiliate Korean men. Unsurprisingly, Korean men didn't want to be targeted by the same style of hate speech they so lavishly used against women, what they did instead is blame women and feminism. Women eventually realized that Korean men are hypocrites like to hate them, but hate to be hated in return and in the way.
