How often do you guys see Somalis studying Law? It feels like all the people I meet are studying Business, Medicine, Engineering, Media, etc. I'm the only Somali in my field at the university I attend (where I sometimes see other Somalis) and when I ask, none of them seem to have interest in it. Is it like this where you guys are at? :hmm:
My parents look down on lawyers and say it isn't a good field.

You spend a LOT of time getting an education and the pay is really shit, also you have to defend some of the worst people you've met in your life, so it brings up ethical and moral concerns.

You can pick what field you want (Corporate, civil, family, criminal, etc.) and the pay outside the UK is high (UK salaries seem to be so low across every field, why is that?)

I think it’s rare for Somalis(maybe even most Muslims) to study law in the west and if they do it’s usually immigration law. It’s a tough field to make it unless you study criminal, family, patent which may not be halal to practice.
