Somalis not bearing ethnic Somali names

I truly look down upon Somalis who do not have a first, middle, or last name of Somali origin since I am a proud Somali with a Somali surname.
since having a Somali name is a component of who you are. For instance, you would have no idea what nation or ethnicity this would belong to if your name was Ahmed Ahmed. As you are aware, the person is Muslim, but if his name were Ahmed Sahardiid, you would know that he is Somali. If you look at any African ethnic group on continent you would notice indeed majority of them would bear ethnic surnames unlike us Somali folk.

What a shmuck. Who cares what your name is? why are you looking down on people who didnt choose their surnames? You couldve phrased this in a better way. Ragebait 0/10

African Americans and most Black Christinas got some Cadaan names and surnames. Also Having mixer of arabic name and Cushitic helps you blend in since you can't guess what ethnicity the person is since there's billions of Muslims.

Having names that anyone can easily pinpoint your Somali isnt good, look how Jews are easily spotted just from surnames and names coz for centuries they have been choosing same genre of names and adding a twist too it.

Hence currently in internet any filthy or degenerate ideologies - right wingers go too early life section on wikipedia on founders or the person and from the name easily guess its a jew.

We should have had mostly somali surnames so we can easily identify each other. Is a shame somali first name and last name is going extinct. Let's save it before it's too late.

Looking down on something, people can't control is one thing. Indeed, we should have more somali names etc but you don't choose who you are born to in this life. Have some humility

We've had Muslim names since the medieval period you ignorant fool.
Indeed, it's the same with all muslims across the world. Somalis aren't the only ones, many muslim nigerians north africans indonesians all have muslim names. Often times, they may abbreviate it in their own languages, for example chinese muslims use "Mu" as a mandrain translation of the name "muhammed".

That's true, but Somali names have been becoming less common. I feel like it was more normal for women to have Somali names as all of the older generation in my family have Somali names. The men have a mixture, i'd say 70% of their names are Arabic.

Out of my entire abtirsi, only two names are Somali, the rest is Arabic

I can count my abtirsii upto 20 and they are all Arabic not a single Somali/cushitic name
That cant be possible no way. 20 generations is 500 years ago at that point in time somali names were more common to have. Also all the clan founders and their kids have somali names and thats around 25-32 generations ago. Are you banadiri perhaps?

Indeed, you barely meet any Warsames, Ruuns, Ayanles, Robles anymore. Liibaan seems to have survived out of the old Somali name.

Somalis also made their owns names from Arabic words and somalised them: Cibaado, Nadiifo,Canaan, Etc. These seem to be fading away as well for girls, names like Rayaan, Hafsa and other Arabic names are more popular.

None of the Somali names are gone (at least from what we had since the Pre-Modern Era). They are documented and known among Somalis. Go ahead and use them if you want.

Somalis culturally and sociallyrelied more on nicknames anyway, and that guy with gibberish name is known as the Nacas.

Besides, you're an internet woman. Do you guys even plan to reproduce? I don't want to hear children's name talk from a part-time anti-natalist.:heh:

Rooble makes sense in a desert environment. Being in England, where it rains every day, makes the name obsolete, doesn't it?:patrice:

Why do the men on here like to assume things about women, when have I ever said that?

I've even planned out draft names before on this site

Alx your attitude is whats going to keep you from spreading your genes from future generations

I don't assume; it's a general claim from years of engagement, where the majority of women have issues with reproduction, whatever their excuse is.:heh:

I'm the type of guy that got choices. Just letting you know, love. I have a nice attitude too.

Besides, learn to take a joke, woman.
