Hows life like in Seattle?

I've read somewhere that it rains often and that there is plenty of grassland.

Okay fine. We're all under quarantine right now so not much going on.

If you're good in tech and like nature, this is the place to be. If not, this place is too expensive for anyone else.

Is there a sizeable Somali community?

Is there a sizeable Somali community?

There is. Split into the boomers who remember their time in Somalia and the ones we either have no memory or were born in America. Boomers are religious, community driven etc.

Two camps for young people, those that end up distancing themselves from the others and going to college etc, and those that are embroiled in the gangs.

The rain and weather makes meeting people hard in this city. It's not the rain, but the overcast weather that will drain your soul so it's hard to meet up with like minded peers.

Seattle is nice but it’s getting expensive. It has it’s pros and cons. One of the cons is homelessness and drugs but I don’t think most Somali’s deal with this problem as we live in the suburbs.

Like Odkac mentioned we have the third most Somali population after MN and Ohio in the states. I’m not gonna lie and say Seattle Somali community is the best but we aren’t bad either. We don’t come together as much as we’d like in times of need. For example not enough people came together when Tuk/Seatac businesses were removed from the area they were based for over 20+ years. Despite this Alhamdulilah the community is still thriving.

Lots of big tech companies are based here. So if you’re in the tech industry you’ll love it.

Seattle has something called Seattle freeze. I don’t think a Somali would have much of a problem making friends as our people are social and easy to befriend but if you’re trying to befriend others you’ll struggle. People who move from Cali and other states find this the hard way.:drakelaugh: They come here all happy and shit only to get cold shoulders when they try to befriend Seattleites. :mjlol:

Seattle is a beautiful city. So many endless things to do. Home of Starbucks and sea food.:wow:

Forgot to mention Seattle suburbs have a lot to offer too.:rejoice:

Whenever you get here. Get a cup of coffee and enjoy Seattle friend.:wow1:

If you want nightlife, there are way better cities for that. Weekdays is completely dead first off, so the weekend is when everyone shows up. There are hella people that come from everywhere, including as far north as Alaska surprisingly but it makes sense since Seattle is the biggest city in the NW. Get there before 7 if you want parking because you're not gonna find any. The nice thing is that it's liberal and diverse, so as long as you're open, you can meet a lot of people.

Afterparties is where it's at though

Lol why before 7? Is there only 1 place you can park or something lmao?

I would've expected more from a grammy winning artists hometown (macklemore) loooooool oh an the home of bill gates

The city is cramped and parking spaces become limited because of the amount of people that show up on the weekends. Trust me though dude, Seattle is a cliquey ass city, so you need to learn to connect with the right people and you'll always be good. Getting into spots for free, going to afterparties, yatcht parties during the summer, weekday parties in the many hotels that litter downtown. Connection is key here. You might never even need to go out to our garbage party scene if you never have to ever again.
