I simultaneously won't defend Siyaad for his strategy of mass-murder of civilians across Somalia in response to terrorist incursions, nor will I defend his generals for carrying out these order and giving criminal orders of themselves.

There is the full list of ONLF criminal acts done from the start of the insurgency to the peace agreement floating out there made by Human Right's Watch, it's not as long as the lists on organizations which operated in the 80s and 90s but I do still condemn these deeds (idk why they are putting gov and army officials on this list tho. valid targets by int. law, list could probably be cut in 2/3rds if we subtract those)

you’re being deliberately disingenuous in the sense that you engage in blanket moral condemnation of terror and then proceed to bring up an organisation which never engaged in terror in the same sentence, so as to draw a supposed connection/inference, knowing that you couldn’t outright accuse it of engaging in terror.

The FBI defines terrorism as Violent, criminal acts committed by individuals and/or groups who are inspired by, or associated with, designated foreign terrorist organizations or nations (state-sponsored)

The SSDF was quite literally headquartered in Addis for some time, and even invaded Somalia with the help of the Ethiopian Army and Ethiopian Airforce.

I had to bring a legal definition, and in my opinion the American one is the most clearly worded.

International legal definitions for terrorism did not exist until the 2000s, and in each case they just airlifted US and European law and applied it to the whole of the world. Also if I intentionally used the American definition because I think that if I used the Somali law code of the time to charge the SSDF, you would immediately say that said law code is biased.

The SSDF rose in rebellion after the people in the north east were targeted for extermination, the cause was justified and they exacted no terror or violence on the civilian populations.

They fought conventional warfare and bested the kacaan army many times, not like your outfit who shoot at trucks from the bushes and scatter like rats.
