All that menelik did was form an alliance with different rebel groups in somali lands,when somaliland was formed he wasnt even in power he ran to zimbabwe

The SNM like any other rebel group was armed by ethiopia. Why else do you think they got in a pickle with Siad barre.

I know more about history of the land than you,ethiopia armed snm and ssdf as a counter for siad arming the somalis in ethiopia,yes he armed the rebels no he did not have a hand in creating somaliland. snm,ssdf(it surrendered before siad barre was ousted)and usc all agreed to remove siad barre then later unite somalia but usc formed its own gov without involving the north and thats why somalia is divided today,sl seeing they are not included in the gov decided to return to sl before the union,period
And don’t give too much credit to menelik he was just an opportunist most of the initial funding for snm came from diaspora landers in the uk,the gulf and rich businessmen in east africa

Exactly, reer waqooyi were never seen as equal shareholders from the day cigal AUN and the three other men went to xamar. until the very end in 1991 . People get upset about Somaliland "succeeding "when in reality they are taking back their independences which was and is the right thing to do. The averge 80 year old man in 1960 from Hargeisa never knew farax from Djibouti, samatar from nfd, gulied from xamar or ismaail in jigjiga ….everyone lived in their own tulo the ONLY thing we had in common with the rest of the somali speaking was deen and culture to a certain extent as it varied from countries and regions.

The SNM saw that their original plan wasn't going to be possible, so they gave up on that and invited the clan elders of SL(at that time Northern Somalia) to Burco. So the people(elders, politicians) of the North came together in Burco and discussed. In May 1991, the Republic of Somaliland was declared.

Thank You for your educational explanation because a lot of those anti SL people really do lack knowledge. They should have researched those information. But, rather comment on a topic that they don't know and most of the people presumably were born after 91.

Ain't that a bit suspicious. The same rebel group that successfully helped overthrow siad barre, has declared their sovereignty at the end of the barre era. And on top of that their support was our only arch enemy in our entire existence. If you don't find it suspicious at all you my friend have a bias opinion on the subject.

I respect the snm and for what they stood foor however i cannot just look the other way when they commited the same atrocities as the barre regime. No ones history is only sunshine.
