Both Ethiopia and Kenya are fighting over the revenues the khat generates in Southern Somalia,Farmaajo's brother Hassan has managed to have a manopoly over the Khat trade in the Banadir region.

Hassan and Ali Yare(Deputy governor of Banadir) will be the only two allowed to import the drug into the south.

You do know that the Turkish Government runs and owns both Mogdishu port and airport for the next 20 years right? Khat doesn't come in a Lorry or on the back of a donkey.

Or ban it completely, not one leg in what leg out. Kenyan khat was somewhat more "sweeter", according to the people on the ground. But khat should be banned. I just love how Somali people consider khat as halal, non-drug substance. They’ll condemn the use of weed which is very similar but will promote the sale and use of khat like its coffee. Khat has similar properties and affects like cocaine. It’s classified under “mind-altering drugs” which is specifically prohibited in the deen. You can’t make halal what Allah has made haram, at least acknowledge it as haram deed that you’re engaging in deliberately and stop acting blind and deaf to it’s true nature ya know.

First, the President and his government can have his gaffs. This is one of them. Revenue must be low for a u turn of this type. Khat eating is a pandemic, but If your going to let people eat khat, give them the good ones. The people are eating a stale type of Khat. Now, they can enjoy their "sweeter" khat, with no dent in the pocket.

Khat should be banned, sooner or later, with or without Farmajo, that shit needs to be stopped quick.
