guys guys, I am not saying I agree with how this was brought about, or with annexing any lands, but I am okay with doing business with SL, import/export, especially if they are saying they will give us a better deal, in the long term, than Djibouti.
Regarding naval bases, I am not sure about that, let the govts and peoples of both countries negotiate if that works, I personally do think that other powers are at play here, perhaps powers that want to use ethiopia as a proxy in the red sea? time shall tell.
regarding going through somalia proper, for this; I understand that logically, that makes sense, but we have to ask ourselves: if they haven't governed SL since 1990/1991; who do we negotiate with? the govt that HAS been governing SL peacefully for decades, or?
let's be fair here. let's say abiy got HSM's approval, then went to hargeisa and they were angry and said ''no, since you didn't go through us, we say no''.. .then what?
and yes, I agree, abiy wants to distract from the massive problems at home, some say, this is even a plan to use berbera or SL for oromia if it goes its own way, then of course, the ogaden would secede too, and we'd border them and try to work out a mutually beneficial deal with them to use their roads to get to SL...etc....
