Without AMISOM somalia will get lost , same like jubaland is getting lost without The KDF . I bet alshabaab can take over Mogadishu in 48 hours. Amisom should leave, they've basically hit the pause button on the civil war, but it's impossible to end this conflict with them still here. You need to force the clans to mobilize and clear out their degmos, and the presence of a foreign force in the country is a big point shabab use to recruit other clans

Alshabab will walk into Muqdisho the same week the last Amisom soldier leaves. Everything south of Galkacyo will fall to Alshabab.

There is no military force south of Galkacyo capable of generating the force necessary to hold Alshabab in check. Turkey is in freefall, Ethiopia is crumbling and Kenya has no stomach for further entrenchment in Somalia.

They think the choice is between Amisom and a Somali National Army, when the real choice is between Alshabab and Amisom. I think they know this, and many of them simply prefer Alshabab to Amisom but are too afraid to admit this. They don't seem to understand how precarious Somalia's situation is. They think that if the SNA got the $1 billion a year that Amisom gets, they can hold the line as well as Amisom has. They don't seem to realize that the EU has no interest whatsoever in having that money go to the most corrupt government on the face of the earth.
