Anyway we don't care about these liberal western stats their agenda against us is clear we are getting better than what we used to be at some point I'm sure life in Somalia is way better than those countries

It seems like almost anyone making a negative assessment of Somalia has a grudge against it. What is the likelihood of dry academics who are very particular about details giving a damn about Somalia in particular. They just tell it how they see it.

Your govt is funded by Western taxpayers and was created by Westerners. Quite ironic now to pretend that your western puppet govt is all of a sudden anti-western

Two things I realized about these guys.

Power and Ego.

If it makes them more powerful they will suck up to the west but if something bad is said about them then they disavow the west.

Because they are mental they can do both at the same time.

This is a classic parapraxis, or as popularly known, a Freudian slip. What you meant to say was they, whomever they are, 'can NOT do both at the same time', but your conscience got the better of you, and instead you quipped 'They can do both as the same time', which is what you DO. You could accuse them of 'laba-canlayn', but you are famous for baring the other proverbial cheek in haste. Poor sod.

Somalia possesses some of the world's weakest state institutions, measured by the government's ability to exercise sovereignty for its citizens. It's widely known that, even in areas under Al Shabaab control, life is relatively more peaceful (though economically poorer) compared to regions in Haiti, Congo or I'd even argues the favelas or Brasil. This "peace", however, isn't attributable to robust state institutions but rather to Islamic and cultural values that don't necessarily rely on the state for providing services; the people and clans themselves take charge. However, even this situation is fragile.

Both Al Shabaab and Somaliland govern more Somali people and territory under the de jure state of Somalia than the federal government of Somalia. The Federal Member States merely pay lip service and function as tribal fiefdoms with power-sharing arrangements among clans that constitute their majority, at least for the time being.

But things are getting better, thats more than most of those states on the list can say.

Somalia is in a fragile state but really, its still more peaceful than some other countries like Ethiopia, Sudan or Yemen that see far worse violence and death tolls.

The issue is many factors come into play at once.

Public services - education, health, infrastructure
that help you build and maintain an economic base that feeds back into those public services.

Without these basics you are living on the edge. At the height of the Syrian civil war the life expectancy was still higher than Somalia's. Somalia has some informal structures and civic, religious values that stop it falling into the abyss and ceasing to exist as a country. If there was a civil war like Syria tomorrow Somalia probably would be finished. If there was HIV epidemic similarly Somalia would no longer exist.

The situation is apocalyptic anyone saying otherwise is in denial.

They tried to build a road from Mogadishu to some nearby town. Just a road. And they couldn't do it.
