The age of oil isn't over, and we don't need vast amounts to become prosperous like the UAE. Producing 500,000 barrels a day could be a game-changer for Somalia, funding essential infrastructure like roads, sewage, water, and electricity, speeding up development.
At today's price of $73 per barrel, 500,000 barrels a day would generate about $13 billion a year. Even with extraction costs, a 20% profit margin could give Somalia over $2.5 billion annually, not including export taxes.
Why not take advantage of oil while we can? Oil revenue could kickstart Somalia's economy, attracting more foreign investment as we build the necessary infrastructure for growth.
