due to disagreement with harti = Jidwaq was the eldest and led house of Absame, Dhulbahante led house of Harti and there was a disagreement over who will be Sultan of Darood, Dhulbahante was the strongest in terms of military in house of Harti, Jidwaq clan were the eldest and led House of Absame,

Lol I’m Ogaden and even I’m totally against that name ( Ogadenia ) . Like every body mentioned here every qabil you can think of hold territory there .

Nfd Kenya has a large Ogaden population but they don’t call themselves ogadenya since they have garre , Marehans ,degodia and ajuran .

The ONLF is actually the party that switched the name from Ogaden to Somali Region and designed the neutral state flag seperate from the party flag.

Ogaden isn’t given from Ogadens sidelining other clans it is a historical name with continuity. If I search it I can find debates on this topic in British Parliament a hundred years ago aswell as treaties and agreements, seperatist movements etc. Hence the parties decision to maintain the name.

Anyone who frames this as some tribalist overstep from the Ogaden has misplaced cuqdad.

Its pretty common for Ogadens and others just not in government offices. Theres no need to virtue signal against it Darfur isnt only fur people, Uganda isnt only Baganda, Turkey isnt all Turkish etc.

Just the way the cookie crumbled if that was the reason other clans lagged behind I wouldn’t use it but we already ran that experiment with the WSLF/UWSLF.

Are there other examples of major Somali regions being named after clans? All the other historical Somali regions I could think of like Benaadir, Bari, Jubba, Awdal, Hararghe, and Bale aren't named after clans. Ogaden might be the only example of it.
