Somalia Foreign Policy Posture And Challenges

This isn't going to be about 'clan' even tho that is very important social metric that cannot be just 'denied' away and this idea 'all clans are the same' is very un-true as all can be measured post state collapse(91-2000) and post state reconstruction recovery(2000 onwards). But my topic won't be about that, this concerns Somalia as a whole about it's foreign policy. Currently the only foreign policy we take is based on 'begging interest' which is 'short term goals', but I haven't seen any long-term 'foreign policy' posture and direction, as foreign policy has two dimensions, short n long term interests.

Currently Somalia foreign policy has been to flip flop, this is dangerous and shows no political stability or rule of law and the nation is at the mercy of the 'president of the day' ama 'madax ka nool' unlike other countries posture is 'nidaam ku nool' so it doesn't matter who is president they have a 'nidaam' which increases their state profile when risk matrix are applied. If Somalia continues on this route, it may lead to all nations taking a 'haloo heeshiyo' route as they benefit no-one like the world did with the 'arms embargo', foreign policy of nations can follow a similar outcome if the flip flopping persist.

Somalia needs to know it's short term goals and long term goals and assess each nation for those goals and begin a heirachy of nations. The goals may-be budget support for the govt, trade partners, security partners, knowledge transfers across the govt, Currently we adopt a foreign policy based on identity lol(caqli xumo) and 'brotherly relations' lol, there is no brother or sister relation when countries are pursuing their survival. A friend is merely determined on who has 'mutual interest' based on your goals and there goals.

This problem roots a-lot based on the founding principles of Somalia and their regions. It's full of 'identity' politics such ethno nationalism(somalinimo), theocracies(Muslim n Islam), Democracy goals(only voting not values). So this leads to a mix of 'islamic-somali-voting' identity and system. The problem this leads too is.

1. Ethno nationalism will lead to others seeing your only an 'ethnic' aspiration state and if u become to strong u may use that to harm their ethnicities. That's why a-lot of the world has turned away from fascism, but Somalis as usual last to the dance, wear it with a badge of honor while other nations silently enter rooms and say 'war waxani dandansiga ethnicity la ordayo, yusan nagu soo bixin'.

2. Theocracy, we mix our ethno-nationalism with Islam, so we are proposing a world to be divided by believer/disbeliever, this will side-line us from the rest of the non muslim world as not being in their 'long term interest which is to survive'.

Where-as the west which I must congratulate have a foreign policy that is robust.

1. Shared values countries are number 1 on their foreign policy goals.
2. Security Partners are second.
3. Trade partners.
4. Exporting their Political/Social philosophies target nations to help reform them.

This has allowed every nation to trust them globally becuz they don't hold an ethno-nationalist(white) or theocratic value(spreading christianity) or else they wouldn't side-line Russia who is white and refuses their value based system. Their values are 'xaq' and 'just' and based on human rights only, so when a nation sits with them, they don't percieve them as a threat and thus their global profile rises with more alliances as time continues.

A Human right value system is all a nation needs, not ethno-identity or theocracy, If Somalia just would accept human rights 'is superior, not only would our people be at peace becuz it could be used to ensure no-one violates it or imposes their will on other or tries to strip the freedom of another person. It promotes co-existence and eventual social maturity for ideas exchange and open-ness to begin and greatness to occur.

But a society that doesn't follow it, will be always chasing it's tail becuz some group or section will uprise due to their freedom being violated by identity or religion or gender or race or what-ever stupid identity vice that nation sits on.

Plus this allows us to spread our foreign policy to nations who will see we are no 'threat' not just thru 'empty words by the president' but they can see our social system isn't one that is built to come after them in the future due to islamism or ethno-nationalism. It could lead to Somali empire emerging as nations rush to join our 'axis' in Africa becuz their not in fear of us but admire our social maturity.

@anon2 there is my piece of advice to the nation. Only Anon can see the detrimental implications of our system which will effect our foreign policy goals. No nation is going to help a somali hitler niyahow or even worse a bin laden mix to it.

Plus bury me anon, I give u the rights to do that. Maybe the 15th generation in somalia or diaspora will see my wisdom from the future like we see wisdom of ppl from the past. Ileen some ppl are considered ahead of their time to spot and only the future ppl can spot it when they review history.

If I had to provide foreign policy advise to the world, I wouldn't lie to them. They adopted the two most atrocious identity politics to find a nation. Religion Plus Ethnicity. The west went to long wars over this(dark age wars over religion) and World Wars over 'ethncity' which is known as 'fascism'. Somali combined two of the most dangerous value systems, it's either a potential threat to other nations due to ethnicity or it sees 80% of the world as 'enemies n disbeliever axis'.

My foreign policy conclusion would be for the world stability and globe, to take a unanimous 'isolate and contain' foreign policy, my line of thinking is if you can't save your people, I must work to save mankind, so one day in the future a 'messiah' might arise for them from another country to get them back on track.

But if I cheat or play games and lie to myself and others, you could be harming the world and thus send us all into dark age with no hope of recovery for anyone. I also use this approach for PL, if u can't save somalis, don't sit there idly and wait 4 extinction, at leaast save yourselves and when your strong, u could return for Somalis at a later time, but this 'aan isla dhimano' Im against that mentality whether inside somalia or for the globe.

U can read each nation constitution to see what that social agreement is based on. The most is the following.

1. Ethno nationalism
2. Theocracy
3. Human rights
4. Kingdoms
5. Combination mix is even a deadlier potent

And how those social systems are founded(violence, inheritance(kingdoms), coup, peacefully), the method that found any state is of paramount importance, as that's how they will fall too or whether it can be positive or negative force is due to it's founding method.

Assess each country in the following 'nidaam' and u will see if it's a positive or negative force in the globe, and don't make 'sympathies' for anyone due to your 'bias', this is in the globe survival interest to survive, it's greater then your tuulo. I wouldn't exist if their was no 'light' in the world to migrate too, I wud be in a dark age somewhere in Somalia or Africa and wouldn't be able to return to help and guide them. That's why the world stability is absolute of paramount for all nations.

Nalku wa inu meel ka shidan yahay not 'mugdi' all over the globe, as it gets harder and harder to recover when there is no 'light' anywhere. So all nations interest bay ku jirta taas.

Thank you Doctor, I agree with many of the points you listed above.

I will make a thread in the future with a detailed plan on how to fix these issues from the outside. Diaspora have more control and leverage on Somalia's politics and future than they realize. We have the ability to "control" Somalia from the outside via lobbying. The same way Armenians and Jews control their country for their own benefit.

There is lots of work to be done. This has to be a multi-qabil/"tol" project like SYL or Kacaan Coupe or else it will not work

I think most of us all have the same goal we want a proud nation, the disagreement is the method to reach it. Lots of the methods are purely based on biases/emotions and not tested to see what can come from each method. If we agreed to simply 'test' our methods and where it can lead too, a-lot of our issues would be resolved. A govt based on mere intelligence/reason.

@anon2 i've noticed we tend to be the 'last' to the dance, we hold onto things from the past and repeat it, not advance it or evolve and remain stuck, that's why our trade is still 'neolithic', the big issue is resistant to change, we don't keep up with the world and every generation inherits the same neolithic period.

@DR OSMAN education and resources to educate people are more readily available than ever, we can mentally "evolve" the Somali public through social media. A cultural rival is needed, the same way the old gov encouraged art, poetry, music and riwaayad/theatre

I agree we all have the same goal, the methods will be tested out, I believe a mix of many systemxs will ensure the best success for Somalis as Somali culture may seem aged but it's still quite complex. The most important thing is to make sure the "nation" comes before "tol" or else someone like Caydiid who has a personal vendetta can cause chaos under the banner of "tol"
