Shabaab at their peak was defeated by cayr back in 2009. Since then many have fought as a clan against them and gotten victories, after 15 years of occupation Xawadle pushed them out.

I doubt there’ll be any going back. Most clans in central Somalia are well armed enough to defend against Shabaab.
