Guys, use your brains. Sharia is currently implemented in Afghanistan by the taliban. It’s implemented in the areas controlled by Al Shabab in south Somalia. It’s implemented in small parts of Nigeria controlled by Boko Haram. It was implemented in the short-lived Islamic caliphate that spanned Syria and Iraq.
Simply put, those places were and are complete garbage. The only outcome was stonings and beheadings of people they didn’t like. This was appealing to certain people in those places. That’s the only thing you can point to.
As for nation states, most Muslim countries with the exception of places like Turkey and Bosnia implement the sharia, Saudi Arabia being the strictest.
If you look at Saudi Arabia, their economy is not based on the ingenuity or creativity of their people. It’s not a tech or services based economy. They found oil in the ground and sell it.
And as for sharia implementation, they cut the hands of thieves, stone adulterers and behead murderers or facilitate diya payments. This hasn’t improved society. Their leaders are liars and criminals and steal the country’s wealth. The population is not well educated. They haven’t made any advancements in science or technology. They give millions to non-Muslims to build skyscrapers for them.
If you’re going to say all of these people don’t implement the sharia correctly, you are lying to yourself. You don’t understand what you want.

I think what the AS sympathizers truly want is the hudud punishments of sharia. Perhaps they’ve been victimized by criminals before. Killing murderers and rapists is not new or a novel idea. Any civilized society would punish criminals to deter crime and terror. Doing it in a public square with people chanting Allahu Akbar doesn’t do anything.

How is this different from Shabaab blowing up cafes or hotels because a politician is in the building?
People go to the Shabaab court to solve property disputes. a lack of effective institutions can't be solved by carpet bombing small towns and villages.

It is very different from Al Shabab. People who enable criminals ought to be punished. Mowing the grass in this metaphor would be very beneficial for society. Everyone would report terrorist activity to save their ass.
