04 By contrast = marka loo eego
05 Conversely = ka soo horjeedkeeda
06 Even though = inkasta oo
07 However = hase yeeshee
08 In contrast = marka la garab dhigo
09 Nevertheless = haddana
10 Nonetheless = misana
11 On the contrary = ka soo horjeedkeeda

14 Whereas = halkii
15 While = iyada oo
16 Yet = misana
17 according to = iyadoo/iyada oo loo eegayo/ eegaayo (for the deep south)

Although I traveled east, i ended up west. Inkasta oo aan bari u socdaalay, galbeed ayaan ka soo dhacay.

Anyway, my teacher is clever. Siday doontaba, barahaygu waa xariif/Fariid?

She went to shop, but the store was closed. Waxay doontay adeeg, balse tukaanku wuu xidhnaa.

By contrast, you're more handsome. Marka [isaga] loo eego, adaa qurux/heybad badan.

Bal sii wad tusaalayaashana! Haddaad ereyo kale haysana nala wadaag. Please share with us if you have more words!

Mahadsanid.

Adigaa Mudan Walaal! i am trying to do my best

Ina adeerey Canab i hope you are joking?? I used ro write in my Dugsi sare days.

Loool I'm serious. I did a few years of high school in somaliland but we mostly covered gabays. Maybe that was because the school was private English based. I didn't know people wrote actual somali essays. That's some advanced Somali you have there :wowsweat:

Where in Somalia were you raised?
Most schools nowadays don't value teaching somali and are very low quality education.
Was your school providing quality education

I was raised in Hodan KPP area. The school was kind of normal but my father and my uncle (who was a teacher at 15 May secondary school Siyaad Barre era) used to tutor me.

Did you go to school in Somalia? I don't know about the south side but in the north the private schools follow the kenyan system. There are plenty of Kenyan teachers too. The schools have names like 'New York primary school' 'Miami school' 'British secondary school' 'Blooming' ' School of tommorow' :russ:

90% of the stores have an English name too
:mindblown:

Only the public schools teach in Somali and it's usually the poor students that attend there. On occasion during results day a mini war usually breaks out in these public schools where the students riot and fight the teachers.

In every school the maths education is excellent. Somalis are superb at maths, gotta give it to them :qri8gs7: science is not too bad. Everything else is xifdis :uCkf6mf:

Went to school in Kenya for some time.

They're public school education used to be really good but now they've have gotten worse and private schools have popped up everywhere the last 20 years and are just seeking profit. Somali run schools aren't too good as well.

Turkish and Indian schools in Kenya are really good quality though and are at reasonable tuition fees.
