From the Djibouti first lady topic, I noticed that some Somali men think that Somali women have no clans, no agenda of their own, no feelings and so forth.
Some of you desperately want to believe that your wife from another clan, will choose you and your clan over her own clan. That's not how it works. She's not your daughter, she's your wife. If she marries you, she doesn't become your clan. She has her own father and her own clan. I hate to state the obvious, but she also has her own thoughts, opinions and so forth.

Rest assured, if a war broke out between your clan and hers, she will find a way to assist her own family without you even knowing it.

Do you guys really think that women will listen in on reports about their family/region about to get attacked and they don't leak the information?

Somalia's constitution used to have a clause, that prevented men with foreign wives to run for office. You really think a Somali wife from a clan that has serious beef with yours, will not be a threat to your agenda? Think about how deeply divided Somalia is, before answering.

I personally love it when women get underestimated/misunderstood. It allows women to rise to power and move undetected. This is why, I will never vote for a Puntite politician with a shisheeye wife. I know my gender.

The wife of a politician can have incredible power over his decision making. Like when Farmaajo named an outsider from his wife’s subclan to be his PM.

Yep.

Who has someone's ear more than the first person they see in the morning and the last person they see at night? Who has more access to a person's communications than their own spouse? That's why gaalo spy agencies use women to entrap and spy on men (honey trap)

Some of the people on this forum must be children, because the naivety is astonishing.

Somali politicians also like to name their maternal nephews/maternal uncles for important positions. So, you'll see them name another clan for image purposes, but upon closer inspection you can see it's their relative maternally.

Women are dangerous and in the end support their own clan. When OG and Degodi fought in NFD in the 90s, the main Degodi financier was married to an OG lady. He was found dead one day. Rumour has his wife had a part to play.

As the Arabic line of poetry went

I wouldn't be surprised if she killed him. Women are just as loyal to their own blood as men are to theirs.

At the end of the day, if it comes to war, any man would want his own daughters to support him and her brothers over a husband.

There is a famous Somali story. A village was attacked by enemies. A lady, her son, her brother, and her husband managed to escape. Whilst they were running, they were caught up by the pursuing attackers. The lady was to be left as was the custom but the men would be killed. She begged the ring leader to let her relatives live but he refused. After much begging, he let her choose only one to survive. She chose her brother.

The shocked ring leader asked her β€œinstead of your son or your husband, you chose your brother?!?”. She replied β€œI can marry another husband and I can have another son, but where will I get another brother from”.

Moral of the story, women are loyal to their clan.

That's why Somalis should stick to their own, until Somalia becomes a normal place.
I warn you to not vote for a man whose wife is shisheeye, especially from a clan that is an enemy of yours. Gurigaas waa lagu jira, her or her family got all the shaah and her sons will be close to their abtiyaal.

:manny:
That used to be OG policy. The Jubbaland OG suldan Ibrahim Magan was forced to abdicate in 1900 because his mum was shisheeye. He was replaced by his brother Ahmed Magan who had an OG mum.

Is that the Suldaan whose mother was Majeerteen? If yes, that was the right move, Harti and Absame were beefing over Kismaayo and I know eedo wasn't damiir la'aan.

A lot of Harti might have left, but we still own our properties and we fought to secure it.

You want Presidency of Jubbaland AND mayor of Kismaayo? Are you never sated?

:manny:
Forget Kismayo, we dominate it population wise today, we want all of Jubbaland. Don’t let Madobe’s lip service to Somalinimo fool you guys. The most recent appointments should have shown you guys what we really want. We are not like the laangaab who will hide behind waddaninimo and somalinimo for their agendas (you know who). OG want an OG dominated Jubbaland and Ogadenia. Madobe finally felt the pressure and gave in. Cagjar will likewise do so or he will leave. It is a ruthless world and only the ruthless will survive.

Oh, I'm not fooled by anything. I know all about Ogaden plans and ambitions.

  • This is true. Somalis would historically not trust the man with the shisheye wife from a rival clan with intel, nor his clan-carrying half-and-half offspring.
  • Ever noticed that those Somalis from different clans that often fight are some of the most hateful and qabilist of them all? In part from this desire to prove themselves.
  • I advise marrying within your clan if you can, especially if you want to engage in politics back home. Never go for someone with an enmity for your clan (nearby rivalrous groups).
  • A climate of disharmony in the family is not healthy for growing children.
  • If they are anti-your macro or micro clan, it could be disastrous. If you are politically misaligned, it seems like an odd pairing.
  • Also, if the man lives far away, it requires relocation, so it's easier to stay where you are. And if both your funds go toward your parents' ancestral region/city/town; it's a net benefit.
  • Ladies are advised to protect themselves and their interests, which means marrying strategically and selecting based on many commonalities (age-appropriateness, income, attractiveness, temperament/personality, shared values, education, religiosity, lineage, lifestyle compatibility, shared life goals, family approval etc.)

My mother does 'abtirsi' and is very close to her clan just like men do. She can't pass on her clan but she is still a member of her clan and obviously will not tolerate any attacks on it. It's the 'bin adam' theory not 'bin eve' except jesus had that son of mary title. We get our names from the males that's including males n females. We get our life from our mothers.
