Yes i know but i have been to some and I wear like wedding abaya types that look like diracs for example on insta @muse.dxb 4th row down is what I would wear for the occasion. Pair it with some heels and a nice white chiffon hijab

Is it possible to adopt somali surnames while keeping our original surname. So like when it comes to representing our country you have the somali surname. I cant lie but i wouldmt want to see in a match everyone surname being abdi or something. Every character representing us must have a unique name that stands out We can't let somali names go extinct. I dont think thats halal but what somali men back home like to create is somali nicknames whilst also honouring the original name. So in a way what your saying does happen just in a different way

No as in we keep our original surnames so that won't go but we have an alternative somali surname when it comes to representing us like a stage name so our surnames don't go extinct. emg like a famous musician, famous football player, etc. They need to stand out and have stage names. This should happen.

like yeah so for example like there's a boy called Abdi Mobammed, a typical first and last name for a somali. But he has a stage name if he was to represent our country through sport, music, etc s his stage name is Guled Samatar. This name stands out and is memorable if he was to become the new Cristiano Ronaldo. This should happen if a somali represents us in the world stage all having a stage name

They keep there original names on paper but stage name only happens if you were to represent us on the world stage e.g basketball team, football team, boxer, signer, actor, etc. Everyone else who isn't going to represent us on the world stage don't need a stage name.

Okok I get it. I might give myself one. Ladan ayaanle sounds gooood (Surname comes from down the line) and ladan sounds like the most somaliest name ive ever heard but my real name is the most arab name

Yes beautiful traditional name so if you were going to be a model, actress, tennis player, etc that would be your stage name so ajanabis can know our unique identity and other muslim horners e.g Sudani, ethiopian won't hijack our success.

Yes it's a really nice name sadly all these somali names are going extinct. I pray we have a leader that will actually take a risk and somalis back home adopt a somali first name and surname while still keeping their original names but when it comes to day to day life and representation everyone uses the adopted names.

I've had multiple 'Somali' names over the years since my real name is the equivalent of (dw not doxxing myself) 'Aisha Muhammed Ali'

My madeup Somali name is now Sagal Weheliye

I love somali names that end with -iye, they just sound extra Somali

We could use our clans as our surnames. For example, Amina Darood, Amina Hawiye, Amina Issa etc. That would make us more identifiable. My abtiris is mainly arabic, but everyone has a Somali nickname. People who know me call me reer *somalinickname* instead of using the actual arab name, but I have zero issues with arab names either. I’ll make my somali nickname Waris Xalane.

Xalane is a nice name its a shame its associated with that one place ;(
