Somali nationalist vision

Yh it was but only by a Minute of the population and doesn’t account for “Somalis” using it like some of these disillusioned nationalists claim.
In every society only the elite and/or scholarss wrote, then after social revolutions the working classes were taught too. Given natural progression without colonial intervention, it could have been possible that Somalis would have adopted wadaad or osmanya as scripts

Latin is somewhat understandable although given Global Context, Osmanya script just follows the principles of Latin
Not really as Osmanya has a separate characters for: extended vowels, glottal stops, and non-latin letters like 'kh' 'sh' etc

And it doesn't have letters not found in Somali such as the English 'x' and the letter 'p'

Thank god that didn’t happen.

Other wise Modern day Somalis would’ve abandoned Somali generations after Wadaad became widespread and nationalised

Somali could have turned out like Farsi tbh, same script as arabic but with adjusted letters
Despite the doom and gloom that’s constantly reinforced on this website and anywhere a Somali community on the internet. You do not understand just how lucky and fortunate Somalis are to have their own distinct language, for such a large and homogenous group of people while their neighbours and the rest of their continent suffers due to the sheer linguistic competition.

Can you imagine that Nigeria is smaller than Somaliweyn yet harbours hundreds of languages and groups.

Exactly and we have every right to be sis, but that’s not the only reason. Not to change the topic but I’ve noticed that the world suffers from this strange idolisation of Caadan and Europeans as a whole, literally every group but Somalis we flip the script and look beneath them, which renowns our pride even further.

Might make a detailed thread regarding this

1. All Somalis must wear traditional attire

2. Must have mandatory first or last Somali name

3. Remove latin alphabet and introduce osmanya script and teach wadaad script for quran.

4. Leave the Arab league as Somalia is a Somali nation not Arab as it brings confusion

5. Establish islamic schools teaching sufi sunni islam while respecting Somali dhaqan

6. Establish large scale manufactering and defence industry

7. End the clan discrimination

8. Establish Somali aid and cultural organisation to spread Somali culture and build Somali language schools in the diaspora.
1) this is objectively good because it would boost the somali textiles industry and many adjacent industries, as well as provide a moral boost.

2) superfluous, the arab names that became common are a part of somali culture now and forcing them to be replaced is just headstrong, its better to promote somali names naturally if that matters to you via education of the youth. If you make somali names "cool" with the youth they will use those when naming their kids, so forcing people is unnessesary, besides certain religious names like Abdullah and Abdulraxman are nice and should still be allowed.

3) the first part is fine, but the second part is dangerous. The wadaad script shouldn't replace arabic script since changing the languague of the bible is how christians destroyed themselves. Using it to help teach quran would be one thing, but if you intend full replacement for the arabic that is not good.

4) An inoffensive take but even the most uneducated people know somalis aren't arab, really its giving up a seat at the table where somalis could enforce their will, if somalia became strong it would be worth keeping the seat on the arab lague.

5) what do you mean by sufi? If you mean modern sufism its degenerate and rife with evil, if you mean classical sufism its just sunnism, either way its a useless idea.

6) good but would require money, but more ideas like the first one would make this possible.

7) objectively good take but you didn't say how, if you change the somali educational system you could make the kids and teenagers re-educated against clan discrimination, so really I think 7 should be about changing the education system since that solves that issue.

8) very good take, but I would expand this to include other cushite groups as a way of cultural colonization. The rendille for example listen to somalis all the time, getting them to abandon that name and become muslims would basically give us more manpower. This can be expanded to harrari and afar people since historically they were a part of somali societies like Adal.

If we could get the oromo in this that would be a huge win since we could then inspire them to move to other places in africa, spreading cushite genes and somali culture, without having to do that ourselves, so no need of race mixing by somalis instead the oromos would do it.

Overall: good list this is mostly good and agreeable stuff but there were some sus points about sufism, I hope you aren't believing in bidahs.

Most "nationalists" on here are mentally colonized socialists who hate Islam and somali culture.

You are an actual patriot and intellectual, and while I have some disagreements with you, a person like you leading somalia would excite me and make me want to move.

May ALLAH (SWT) bless you.

Yeah but as the original poster showed there is more that can be done, somalis were colonized by clothing like the majority of africa and now wear clothes that are less pretty than what they used too.

Now somalis dress the same as europeans, and now the suit is seen as the most prestigious thing that you can wear if you are a leader.

I think is fine if we adopt a somali first and surname but as a stage name while still keeping our original names. Our stage names should be used when competing in the world stage like football, tennis, basketball, singers. Too many somalis have the same name and surname and i want any somali representing us to have a stage name. This is what i would do if I led the country.
