I know these people have bad intentions but I'm wondering if it's considered not good to recite quran In somali? Like to yourself when reading in bed for example.

No, you can't recite the Quran in foreign language. If you do its not Quran anymore.

Somalis should be dhaxdhaxaad when it comes to carabs no nacayb no nacmalays either lakin it has been proven to be a challenge for most of them unfortunately

Quran can read English somali and arabic and others languages doesnt make someone a non muslim just he or she read quran in somali
Also if someone who is muslim is anti arab doesnt make the person non muslim

somalis memorize the quran and don’t even know tasir or the meaning of the words they’re reciting. if your just reciting the translation how’s that a problem?

I don't get why it's such an issue to have a translation on hand. Aside from. The fact this group may not be doing this for a good reason.
You can't expect a billion Muslims worldwide to learn Arabic just to understand the Quran. Allah surely wouldn't have given each tribe our own languages if the message was locked behind a single one.
A translation to recite and understand the meaning of the Quran is just as important, how can you sit down and discuss Islam if you cannot comprehend a single verse.

Wtf is the dude on?!?!? The Quran ain't gospel. Put some respect on the holy scripture, for God's sake :stopit:
And those listening and kekeing along with him ain't shit either. :susp:

A translation isn’t the problem but prioritising a mere interpretation of the Quran over the actual thing is. A translation doesn’t have the same effect spiritually compared to the Arabic which is the actual words of God whilst a translation isn’t

why would you memorize the translation, though? the translation isn't going to one hundred percent capture the meaning.

also you mention the tafsir. the translation isn't going to include the tafsir either.

I'm not claiming it's wrong to memorize the translation. I claim it's weird.

If some person comes up to you and recites the Yusuf Ali translation of the meaning of the Quran- will you be impressed or think it's weird?

And what if they memorized the whole translation from cover to cover?

Wouldn't that be silly? With that same effort, they could have memorized some of the actual Quran.

Also- even if you recite the Quran without understanding, you are still rewarded for it. But then even if you don't- it isn't hard to look at the translation as you learn the ayat.

nobody should have qashined this. It is indisputable that the Quran is only the Quran in Arabic. there is no Quran in another language. this is why if you have a mushaf you can't touch it without wudu but if you have a book that is just translation without the Arabic, you don't need wudu to touch it.

Somalis' relationship with the Quran is just memorizing the Quran in Arabic or reading it in Arabic. Its rare for them to be reading (forget about memorizing) the Quran in Somali or even English for that matter. Other than the most well known ayahs, they don't have any clue about the translation. What you have seen here is a once in a lifetime occurrence. Not even Somali sheikhs have memorized the Somali translation. I don't think even they read the Somali translation.
