The issue has been discussed plenty in this forum. Just use the search function. Yibir are like the Ibiire of Rendille, clans associated with magic and blessings in pre Islamic times. They lost prestige to Islamic scholars in the Middle Ages, but they still perform some functions in Somalia related to new born babies. The original Somali story about them never mentioned anything whatsoever to do with Jews; in fact, their leader was called Bucur Bucayr or Maxamed Hanif, probably some dude synchronising Islam and waaqism in the Middle Ages, does not sound very Jewish, does it?

the Jewish story was made up by colonials, Zionists and dirty Somali Zionist sympathisers. DNA does not suggest anything jewish about them. Sure, all those Arab travellers and geographers missed a Torah practising group in Somalia.

ps. I think there might have been one or two Jews in pre Islamic Somalia. That is an area which needs more research. Yibir aren’t and were never Jews though. Some idiots started making that connection due to etymology.

Reer, I agree there needs to more research on Somali minority clans. For now, there is literally no evidence of a supposed Jewish origin. The Zionists in the video is wrong to claim Yibir as Jewish. The whole video exaggerates Somalis treating Jewish badly, uses usual Muslim brotherhood and Arab tropes. These kind of videos are most of the Abraham accords and the idea is pain Israel a good guy within the world and Muslims as oppressors. Some Arab governments are probably also funding these types of videos.

What existed in Somali were a few Jewish traders of Yemeni origin. There is no ethnic group of Jewish Somali origin nor was there some mass expulsion of Jews from Somalia.

This video has a clear political motivation. Israelis trained Ethiopians generals in counter insurgency tactics to kill and displace Somalis in the Ogaden. Now they have the audacity to paint Somalis are oppressors of Jews.

It is interesting because a lot of Hadrhami Yemeni had to leave Ethiopia due to suspicions of supporting Somalia.
