It's highely unlikely SL will reunite with Somalia, especially when Somalia harbours and protects the very perpetrators of the genocide. Somalia is also in an awdul state at the moment.
Handing them over to be tried under international law would be a good gesture for peace but until that happens, landers will not take any calls for reunification seriously.
We will continue in this stalemate. One good thing you fellas do is keep security tight I guess.

Excerpt from Farmaajo's June 2009 thesis where he denies that the genocide had even happened:
“The SNM’s guerrilla army briefly seized two major cities in Northern Somalia – Hargeisa and Buro – in 1988. Barre and his superior American weapons reacted by emphatically crushing the SNM movement. He essentially leveled the rebel cities. Many civilians died in the crossfire; thousands more fled their homes for the countryside, where water and shelter were short”
Those 3 men needed to be put on a plane by Farmaajo heading to Somaliland and have a joint public announcement between farmaajo and the SL government setup to have these 3 men arrested with life sentences in SL, that would be a gesture of good faith in my opinion.
Those 3 are undefendable, the fact that one of them lives comfortably in the US sickens me sxb.
I wish they would be hanged in the very cities they commited their crimes, but alas more would be lost than gained.
Farmaajo won't ever do that sxb, they served his uncle and he won't so much as touch them at all. He shares the same ideology as him and the apology he made was not sincere and was forced.
I hope you understand why SL doesn't want to come near reunification for the time being.
There are indeed so many obstacles that need to be addressed about the genocide and betwen SL and Somalia, god willing once Somalia finds peace then both parties can create a framework of peace and preferably unity that both parties can agree to inshallah, last thing we need is more bloodshed after decades of blood already being spilt.

Gadabuursi, reer Ugaas, but i will always support the unification of Somalia, but not the same Somalia under Barre, that Somalia can stay dead after 91, i'm talking about a united Somalia that allows every single living breathing Somali to work, live, love and be free in every square mile of the seven regardless of their qabil or other loyalties, a new Somalia that every one of us can call home.
That's why i hate division, were Somalis blessed with a large amount of land, and unlike so many African nations with thousands of ethnic groups we are just Somali, now and forever, we have to stick together when there are times where it feels like the whole world is against us, instead of fighting one another.

In a perfect scenario, Somalia's current government during peacetime apologies to the people of Somaliland and tries to get justice for them by using the federal governments diplomatic relations to ask the US government to hand over those welfare faraax criminals living comfortably their and extradite them to Somalia to face justice, i doubt neither the state department not the US presidents gonna care about a bunch of criminals especially if it has a chance of reuniting SL and Somalia, they'd be happy to hand them over.
and for Somaliland to rejoin Somalia as a state and live happily ever after, thats my dream.

Gadabursi aligned themselves with Siad Barre when Jibril Abakor sub-clan of the Habar Awal (@Younes Osman) offered them to join SNM. They made themselves a clear enemy. Then Gadabursi militia heavily armed by Siad Barre massacred Jibril Abokor people first in Gabiley district and tried to take their land.
General Jidhif, who led the 99th SNM division, did not massacre Gadabursi. This is all false. His mother who was Gadabursi herself actually stopped him. All he did was erase Afweyne presence in Awdal region and karbashed the pro-Afweyne militia that committed horrendous crimes against Jibril Abokor civilians.
Peace talks were made after General Jidhif accomplished his mission. After that Gadabursi pledge loyalty to Somaliland and are an integral part of SL today, holding the Vice Presidency and have been perhaps thelongest serving president of SL (2003-2010).
The so called Samaroon massacre narrative is also portraying Samaroon as a clan bullied by Isaaq, insulting Samaroon, and slandering Isaaq.
